Miami Does Movement Getaway in Puerto Rico

It's Wednesday 4pm and I hear those oh-so delightful words 'Sophie, you're flying to Puerto Rico tomorrow for the Movement Getaway event in Puerto Rico.'

Fast forward 20 hours of panic amongst a huge amount of laundry (don't judge), running to the bank for quarters for said laundry and using my bodyweight to close all of my unnecessary outfit options into a hand luggage bag I'm sure is shrinking, and we're on route to Fort Lauderdale to fly to San Juan.

After spending the first evening and the following day on a culture expedition and bar hopping around the old town, Movement Getaway kicked off on Friday night at Vivo Beach Club powered by Medalla Light.

Amongst a recurring power cut and confusion between attending DJ confirmations and sponsorship freebies, the crowd honestly didn't care. The tone was set when we bumped into a huge crew from Miami; Miami is here to takeover Movement Getaway!

Both nights were danced away to a symphony of dirty house beats possibly a collection of some of the coolest and nicest people I've ever met.

The verdict: Movement Getaway rules, Miami troopers go hard and I want to move to Puerto Rico!

THE U.S. FILM FESTIVAL GUIDE 2016

The U.S. film festival season is an exciting time for fresh and established talent to come together; not only to share their talents but also to network with the film industry elite.

As detailed in my monthly column, one rising star to definitely watch out for is Sasha Wilhem.  Actress and film producer Sasha makes her debut at the U.S. film festivals this year, with her Indie film The Mechanism of Suspended Time

Secret bar launch at Hotel Faena

A hidden treasure in the heart of Miami Beach, the 'secret bar' at Hotel Faena threw a very special insider preview party last week, hosted by Miami's VIP superstars Gabriel Deluz and Oscar Correa.

In addition to being one of the most beautifully stylish venues Miami has to offer, the service is fantastic and the mixologist behind the secret drinks menu produces some seriously enchanting cocktails.

Should you ever find yourself ever invited to one of these seriously exclusive events, I'd have to recommend trying the Faena Spritz, which is very Romeo and Juliet.

Prepare for an evening of beautiful surroundings and beautiful people!

E11even Miami

As Miami’s first 24-hour ultra club filled with Cirque style performances, aerialists, choreographed go-go dancers and exotic acts, E11even is a force to be reckoned with on the Miami party scene.

On arrival, the very lovely GM Elena welcomed us to the roof terrace restaurant, along with a beautiful and friendly waitress, armed with delicious cocktails and some Tapas food.

I have to recommend sampling the delicious Lychee cocktails on the roof terrace with a sweet and tasty shisha, whilst soaking up some old school RnB tunes and the magnetic atmosphere.

Inside the venue, your eyes will be treated to all types of performances, along with private rooms for bachelor or birthday parties.  If you’re lucky enough to be celebrating such a life milestone event in Miami, I cannot recommend E11even enough as the perfect venue to let your hair down and have one of the best nights of your life…

Thank you to the amazing E11even team who ensured we had an incredible evening; the team who will make you feel completely at home and ready to take on a 24-hour party challenge, alongside an equally cool non-pretentious crowd.

See you soon E11even!

The Miami Beach Edition

A boutique hotel set on 3.5 acres of private terrain, Edition is an unexpected hidden treasure in Miami Beach.  Every detail has been considered, commencing on your arrival into their signature scented lobby, to their impeccable and personal customer service delivery at The Miami Beach Edition.

Edition is the very epitome of luxury without a pretentious environment.

You'll find everything you need at Edition, whether you are traveling alone or with family, with amenities including a nightclub (Basement), an ice-skating rink, bowling alley, gym and a breath-taking tranquil Spa.

Edition is very popular with locals and has certainly become my new favorite spot to hang out for food and drinks.  I definitely cannot recommend a stay, or at list a visit, to Edition enough, and would like to thank the staff for ensuring I had an excellent stay.

Santorini by Georgios at The Hilton Bentley Hotel

Located ideally on South Beach next door to Nikki Beach, Santorini by Georgios at The Hilton Bentley Hotel offers the best Greek food in Miami, hands down, no competition.

The evening lighting around the swimming pool creates the perfect ambience for a romantic or casual meal with friends.

Our Octopus and Spanakopita (spinach pie) were cooked to absolute perfection, accompanied by a deliciously authentic Greek salad.

Round two delivered exquisite lamb and prawns, again cooked perfectly, accompanied with seasoned vegetables.  I’m not sure I’ve ever shoveled food into my mouth so fast, but the flavors are so divine you can’t help but try to finish every last morsel on your plate.

Our waitress, Sonia, provided a very friendly and flawless service, whilst head barman Nick made us some incredible cucumber cocktails, as well as a very special watermelon cocktail which was simply glorious…

Owner Georgio provides a very personal service and ensures all of his guests’ dishes are cooked not only to perfection but that they’re also having a great time.

I could recommend anything on the menu, but my favorites would have to be the lamb and the prawns, actually, I can’t decide, I loved it all.  The servings are very generous, so we took the little remainder we had home in a doggy bag.

I can’t recommend this restaurant enough, especially as the pricing is very reasonable considering Santorini is located on South Beach and 1st Street.  Check out their website here.

A huge thank you to the Santorini staff for an unforgettable dining experience.  See you soon!

Cocktails at The Hilton Bentley

On route to @FloatopiaMiami last Saturday, 16th April, my fellow floatopians called to say they were stuck in traffic, so the sensible thing to do was find the nearest bar...

This bar happened to be The Hilton Bentley on South Beach, where I enjoyed a couple of delicious Mojitos at their poolside bar.

The staff here are amazing, and I quickly made friends with the other ladies around the bar and the owner of the hotel's Greek restaurant.  We enjoyed the view of young super good looking men, until said men started doing sit-ups in the pool. Not a good look.

I returned for cocktails the following evening with a date, and again, we quickly made friends at the bar and enjoyed many deliciously crafted vodka and rum based cocktails courtesy of the beautiful bar girl Karla.

If you're ever on South Beach, be sure to visit the poolside bar for a day time tipple.  I'm looking forward to heading back to sample the food in their highly recommended Greek restaurant.

Cheers! x

Miami Music Week

Thankfully, I relocated to Miami just in time for the kick off to MMW 2016.

With a number of events to review and party at, it was a tough job but someone had to do it.

A huge thank you to The Delano Hotel, The Congress, and Fifty Lounge for your hospitality; magazine feature coming soon on the 1st May listing the best places to party during Miami Music Week.
